Making of Panadol: Life Taking Place

Method Studios used Photo Scanning technologies to scan environments using drone footage to re creative them digitally, allowing us to seamlessly blend cg and live action together in our pill shape world. Four different scenarios where shot using drones and motion tracking. Working closely with Guy Alexander and his team at HeliGuy, as part of the shoot day, survey scans were scheduled at the locations. Having access to the drone to gather this data was crucial, allowing a patterned sweep of the entire set location. The resolution and clarity of the footage was perfect for recreating 3D photoscans of the environments which could then be used for extending the shot footage and stitching the tracked camera into an extended version of the shot.

In all scenarios Method Studios added additional capsule-shapes: the paddle-boards, the lunch table, the blueprint, the stadium. This live-action then had to be seamlessly integrated into the CGI environment. In addition to the Method added movement to everything, the planet moves in unison with the camera does, creating the perfect flow.
