➡️Where: The Venue
Les Halles was the original food market of Paris, or the “belly of Paris,” as Émile Zola memorably named it. The previous iteration of the market was a 19th-century glass-and-steel building demolished during a modernization attempt in the 1970s. The underground mall that was put into its place was never loved by the locals. A 2016 renovation of the shops and the addition of a soaring, wavy roof (nicknamed La Canopée) has breathed new life into Les Halles.
Created in 1988 to compile an audiovisual memory bank of Paris, the Forum des Images has since celebrated cinema and moving pictures of all kinds. Fiction films, documentaries, animated films, shorts and feature films, television series, computer films… at the Forum, all genres, formats, and audiovisual disciplines find a unique meeting place designed for sharing ideas and emotions; a site both recognized by industry professionals and tremendously successful with audiences.
