We’re thrilled to unveil a special selection of over 350 artworks created for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the debut title from Sandfall Interactive, a French studio based in Montpellier. Developed in Unreal Engine 5, the game is an ambitious blend of narrative depth and artistic vision — a turn-based action RPG set in a surreal, post-apocalyptic world shaped by memory, beauty, and death.
In this haunting universe, every year the mysterious Paintress awakens to erase the lives of those bearing a cursed number — and this year, the number is 33. Players step into the role of Gustave, a member of the Expedition tasked with breaking the cycle once and for all. What unfolds is a journey through breathtaking landscapes and dreamlike architecture, infused with romantic and baroque inspirations. This curated gallery highlights the immense creative work behind the game, with contributions from an exceptionally talented team of artists:
Reynaud Alan – Lead Character Artist
Nicholas Maxson-Francombe – Art Director
Carla Devèze – Lead Environment Artist
Ophélie Gomes – 3D Character Artist
