Pixar’s Lou by Victor Navone

Animating Pixar’s Short, Lou, by Victor Navone

The lost-and-found box in a kindergarten playground is home to Lou, a creature made from the assorted unclaimed items. Every day after recess, Lou picks up the toys that the children leave behind; the next day, he sets them out on the playground for their owners to find.

Lou is a 2017 computer-animated short film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. Written and directed by Dave Mullins.

This short film was probably the most challenging thing I’ve ever animated. We were literally redesigning the main character from shot to shot, and he was comprised of about 12 different elements plus cloth simulation. Very technically and creatively intensive! I’m proud of the work we did, and I had fun coming up with some of Lou’s different configurations. – Victor Navone
